The Challenge:
To help Rhona’s website improve its usability (it had a hidden menu) and to showcase the other aspects of Rhona’s business like speaker and her book. Rhona wanted it to be easy for users to quickly learn what it is she discuss at her public speaking and how to book her for a talk. Although she had new goals the original purpose of the site – to sell her art – was not to be overlooked. We also had to create work arounds for ideas as the site was built in Squarespace, which didn’t provide full functionality and provided us with design barriers within the template used.
Before
Before the Healthcheck:
Rhona’s homepage didn’t have a clear menu structure, just a sub menu on the bottom of the left column. The full menu could only be viewed on mobile, which meant her pages were getting lost – EASILY. The site also didn’t have any clear Call To Action’s or mention anything about what else she does in her business. Our main focus here was to make it really easy for the user to navigate through the site and get the info they want – quickly!
After the Healthcheck:
Now the site can be easily navigated with a standard header menu and a clear header section detailing exactly what Rhona does. We added plenty of obvious CTAs throughout to make sure people can contact Rhona. Although the template was limited, the important part was information and after Rhona spent an afternoon writing up new copy to showcase her new offerings as a speaker, we created dedicated sections to help people understand what she does.
After
The end result was exactly what I had asked for.
Delighted with my health check and website tweaks. Shortly afterwards I was found on a Google search by an Arts magazine and they are doing a feature article on me… thanks Ross. So easy to work with.
